From business curiosity to graduation with credentials

Avery is a fictional Alabama learner. The six-course eDynamic sequence is publisher-listed; its placement in grades 9–11 and the grade 12 college-course pairing are this site’s proposed example.

Alabama: what shapes the plan?

Plan with the local Alabama Community College System college. Admission, course approval and scholarship coverage must be confirmed for this student and pathway.

Add college study and sit the credential exam

Planning proposal: Avery studies business in one term and computer applications in another, only after current courses, a delivery provider and an awarding college are confirmed and the school and college approve the arrangement. Pearson’s closed Global Digital Classroom route cannot be assumed available. Avery also sits the separate ESB exam when ready.

What the student can show

Target: two completed college courses on the issuing college’s transcript and an ESB credential if the exam is passed.

Who supports the student?

The college owns admission, instruction and the transcript; the school confirms diploma applicability. The college and provider confirm the available instruction and student support. The testing center handles the credential assessment.

Credit distinction: Before enrollment, the ACCS college confirms the exact courses, credit hours, transcript and covered costs. Scholarships and ESB exam funding are not assumed. Two courses do not establish a college certificate or degree.

Alabama implementation: what needs approval?
  • Local ACCS college approval: confirm admission, school authorization, prerequisites, high-school equivalencies, college course codes and credit hours. ACCS describes dual enrollment for grades 10–12; this example starts college courses in grade 12. Pearson’s national catalog alone does not establish an approved Alabama offering. ACCS guidance ↗
  • Readiness varies by course type: as one local example, Coastal Alabama requires completion of grade 9 and an unweighted GPA of 2.5 for academic courses or 2.0 for technical courses; English and math have placement requirements. Check the selected college’s rules rather than applying this example statewide. Coastal Alabama is a source example, not an identified Pearson partner. Coastal Alabama requirements ↗
  • Scholarship coverage: ask the college which proposed courses qualify, whether funds remain available, and which tuition, materials and other costs are covered. Coastal Alabama notes that scholarship funding can change. Do not assume business courses, eDynamic licenses or ESB exams are funded. Local scholarship information ↗
  • Credential recognition: the school and credential issuer must confirm the ESB exam/version and its role in the chosen pathway. No Alabama accountability designation or credential-specific funding has been verified for this example.
  • Exam readiness: Certiport describes an expectation of at least 150 hours of instruction; completing courses does not award ESB. Confirm the current exam requirements and testing policies. ESB issuer information ↗
  • Student cost and access: name who pays for instruction, materials, software, devices and exams. Confirm accessibility, accommodations and support before enrollment.
How could the district run this without individual teacher enrollment work?

Proposed operating model: one district coordinator and one college liaison manage a cohort roster, consent, eligibility checks and transcript reconciliation. Teachers receive a concise exception list for students needing help. Validate available roster integrations with Pearson; automated enrollment is not assumed.

Review participation, course completion, exam results, applicable credits, student feedback and staff minutes per enrollment. These are proposed measures, not observed results.
