The Career Growth Guide is a source-based, selectable-question guide. It does not currently run an open-ended AI chat or automatically fetch new salary data.
How to read salary and growth
- Wages are U.S. BLS May 2025 benchmarks. The 10th and 90th percentiles are distribution thresholds, not experience levels, minimums or maximums.
- Starting wages need employer, apprenticeship or other explicitly entry-level evidence. Missing starting wages stay unverified.
- Employment projections cover 2025–2035 and measure jobs, not salary increases. Declining occupations can still have replacement openings.
- Hourly pay is converted in the scenario at 2,080 hours per year. Actual schedules and annual earnings differ.
- Employee wage data do not represent business revenue, owner profit, benefits or take-home pay.
How the comparison works
Every future dollar amount is a what-if calculation. You choose starting pay, annual pay change, study duration, earnings while studying, training cost and pay after moving into another role.
The model applies the chosen annual pay change to the first year’s pay. During study, the second route earns the chosen fraction of that amount. After study, it uses your chosen new-role pay and the same annual pay change. It subtracts total training cost once from the second route’s cumulative earnings.
It assumes a successful transition immediately after study. It excludes taxes, living costs, loan interest, inflation adjustments, benefits, unemployment and admission or completion probabilities. It is not a return-on-investment forecast.
Course and local-data boundaries
Connections are planning suggestions. Similar course titles do not establish college equivalency. Clinical credentials, licenses and college awards have separate requirements. State selection never changes national wages into local estimates.
The initial set covers nine selected occupations in the three course pathways already illustrated on the site. Additional workforce pathways, verified local starting wages and automated source refresh remain expansion work.
For educators and strategic planning, the wider Pearson portfolio supports additional trades, EMS, design, agriculture and other pathway connections.
